395
Highway 395 winds around Lake Abert, an endorheic lake (one that doesn't drain to the sea). An endorheic lake is the end point of the rivers that feed it. They tend to be saline, like the Great Salt Lake in Utah.
395 is a beautiful and lonely road.
Pictograph on a boulder along Lake Abert (boulder is in the landscape pictures above and below).
A pictograph is painted on the rock. A petroglyph is etched into it. Petroglyphs are by far the more common. Pictographs suffer from fading unless favorably situated against the sun and the weather.
I'm going to search for more petroglyphs out here. Almost any sizable rock with a smooth surface and a good location might have one.
