Glass House

The Glass House is partially set into a notch cut into the hilltop. This could be partly for insulation, or partly to have a low profile. It's in the middle of a very beautiful part of the Warner Valley. I wonder if it was built with consideration for those scenic values. You hardly see it until you are right up upon it.

Kitchen with fireplace.

The view from the kitchen, looking southward down the valley.

Roof. Two fireplaces. Not a lot of venting options though. Gets pretty hot in there. I met a guy who said the building was designed to work "like a carburetor" when the doors at the south and north ends were open, moving the air through like a wind tunnel.
I'd have to see it to believe it but it's an interesting thought.

The view to the north.

Door hardware. One door remains unlocked. Very little is findable online about the original builder/owner. In Plush they say it was a vintner from California who built it. The house is now part of the Hart Mountain Antelope Refuge.
