South Central Oregon

South Central Oregon.

Summer Lake Hot Springs. There's an old concrete pool inside that building. Built in 1928. According to Wikipedia it was not open as a resort until the late 50's. Oregon used to have many hot springs resorts, but many have closed down over the years.

Orange aspens. Aspens scatter seedlings, but they reproduce most successfully through a root system that travels underground and then produces shoots which become new trees. So a whole grove may be a single entity. I wish I had taken the time to get a better picture here. This was shot from a car window with the engine running. But this scene in particular I enjoyed recalling long after the trip was over.
